In the first gala of the season KGS travelled to QEGS Blackburn with their mixed swim team. The gala was close throughout with some excellent individual performances. Victories in the 4X1 IM, 50M fly and 50M breaststroke set the KGS team nicely and took them ahead of QEGS by 15 points at the half way point. Excellent performances from Mason Wilkins, Martha Millar, Lily Yau, Emily Marsh, Hugo Chan, Jess Millar and Kirsty Williams were rewarded with maximum points with only the relay races to go.
QEGS were strong and battled hard to steal victory in the majority of relays, clawing back points to take the gala to a draw. In the final relay it was all to swim for but unfortunately the KGS side were pipped to the post. An excellent start to the season. We now look forward to the Stanley Cook trophy which takes place in two weeks time.
