The Friends of Kirkham Grammar School

To quote our Articles of Association, The Friends of Kirkham Grammar School are proud to assist 'in the provision of facilities for the educational, scientific, cultural and recreational benefit of the pupils, not normally provided through official financial channels'.  Although written many years ago, our objective is still the same today, although with a modern twist.  We are a committee made up of parents, staff members, and friends who enjoy working together for the benefit of Kirkham Grammar School children. Our Matisse inspired logo represents our 'arm in arm' position as a member of the school community.  Whilst holding our traditions dear, for example, Christmas would not be Christmas without Santa stopping off to visit our Christmas fair, we are trying to raise money in ways that are appealing to our families of today. Recently we have spent an evening at a local gin distillery, where we enjoyed delicious food and live music as well as many gins, and our gentlemen undertook a canal cruise. A Junior School disco is held in February; a pre-loved uniform sale in March; 'Bag 2 School' collections twice a year; a family event in the spring; termly Friends' lunches and our wonderful Summer Ball in June which is the highlight of our year! Most recently, the The Friends of KGS organised a Sports Evening at a local rugby club during the Autumn term.

Easy Fundraising

We have registered with Easy Fundraising through which retailers can donate a percentage of sales to ourselves when you shop online, at no cost to you. Please click the image to the right to register. Whenever you shop online at a participating retailer, they will make a donation back to us. We would also ask you to please visit and 'like' our The Friends of Kirkham Grammar School Facebook page, and follow us on Twitter @thefriendsofkgs via the image on the far right.

Donations to school
Recent donations to school have included: £30,000 towards the refurbishment of the Summerlee Hall, £4,000 hockey nets, £1,000 towards accelerated reader scheme and author visits, £774 technology department display cabinet, £360 floodlights and £300 KGS cookery school. The Junior School playground now houses a fantastic 'Adventure Trim Trail', which both our Infant and Junior school children use. Additional outdoor equipment has also been provided by the The Friends of KGS for the I1 play area. Our current fundraising project is to purchase a new school minibus which will be used by all members of the school family aged rising 3 to 18.

New members always welcome!
We always need new fundraising ideas and welcome any new members and helpers, whether your commitment can be on a regular basis or occasionally at an event.

Overall, we hope that you feel able to support our many events.  Every penny raised by you purchasing an event ticket, a raffle ticket, or donating chocolate, bottles or cakes, is spent on our children. Furthermore, we always have lots of fun in doing so!
