Yesterday, Kirkham Grammar School U11 football team took part in the AJIS Football Finals held at Cheadle Hulme School.
It was an early start for the boys with a 7:25 am meet at school. The competition was organised into four groups of three teams. Kirkham Grammar School drew both of their matches against St Mary’s College Crosby and Abbeygate College which was enough to progress to the quarter-finals. Here they met a strong Newcastle under Lyme team and again the match ended in a draw, meaning a penalty shot out would determine the winner of the match. Unfortunately, after a thrilling penalty shoot out, KGS lost 6-5. Despite this, a great day was had by all. Many thanks to Cheadle Hulme School for organising a fantastic tournament.
