Image of KGS celebrate the 25th Anniversary of World Book Day

Today, Kirkham Grammar School celebrated the 25th Anniversary of World Book Day.

Our Junior, Infant and Pre-School pupils and staff came to school dressed as their favourite book character and everyone looked amazing!

Pre-School read the book 'The Bean Machine'  by Adam Bestwick and afterwards enjoyed creating their own bean machines from a variety of materials, including cold baked beans!

A number of activities were also enjoyed by the pupils including; crime scenes (I1), shoebox story settings (I2), pop art comics (I3), Monster art based on English descriptions (J1), a word scavenger hunt (J2), story front covers using iPads (J3) and fairy tale writing and 'wanted' beast posters in (J4).

Over at the Senior School and Sixth Form, a whole school assembly, dedicated to the benefits of reading, took place and during the day each First Year class visited the library to be read to by a special guest.

Second and Third Year pupils read a story for 10 minutes during each period.

KGS Staff became Literary character reading pairs for the day with pupils asked to match up the pairs to be in with a chance of winning an Amazon voucher for the pupil with the most names.

Finally, ‘STARBOOKS’ opened a café in the KGS Library at lunchtime with pupils invited to attend a ‘Book Tasting’ event whilst enjoying a hot drink of their choice.
