U10 & U11 Cricket v AKS (pictured above)

Kirkham Grammar School U10 and U11 junior cricket teams won their cricket matches v AKS on Saturday 14 May. Both games were very competitive and played in good spirit. Thanks to AKS for hosting the matches.

Under 14 cricket v AKS

KGS - 102 for 6 off 20 overs (Marsh 25*, Collinson 17)

AKS - 46 all out (Smith 3 for 10, De Klerk 3 for 2)

KGS won by 56 runs

The Under 14’s winning streak continued on Saturday with a convincing victory against local rivals, AKS. Batting first, Kirkham started steadily accumulating runs without losing a wicket for the first 8 overs with openers Collinson and Simpson batting sensibly. Smith, coming in at number three, batted soundly and nudged the ball well to keep the scoreboard ticking over. AKS had depth in their bowling and the middle order struggled before an excellent 31 run partnership at the end of the innings between Marsh and De Klerk got the team to 102 off their 20 overs.

Captain, Collinson, decided to bowl his opening bowlers for their four allocated overs at the start of AKS' innings. This decision paid off with five wickets falling, including the best batsmen who fell to a great catch from Marsh off the bowling of Smith. Both Bray and Smith bowled beautifully with pace and accuracy. After this opening spell, the other bowlers soon finished off the job with De Klerk and Taylor-Tomlinson taking four wickets at the end. An excellent victory played in good spirits.

KGJS J4 Rounders v Rossall

Kirkham Grammar School J4 girls represented school last Wednesday 11 May in their first rounder’s fixture of the season away at Rossall School. Both teams were given the opportunity to try out different fielding positions and played well, taking lots of positives from the competitive matches. Well done, girls and thank you to Rossall for hosting.

U9 Rounder’s v St Mary's Hall

Kirkham Grammar School hosted an U9 rounder’s fixture v St Mary's Hall on Saturday 14 May. KGS formed two teams with all of the girls being given the opportunity to play against two different SMH teams to allow them to gain plenty of game experience. It was fantastic to see five of our I3 pupils take part in their first ever rounder’s match. With the glorious sunshine and fantastic support from parents and spectators the fixture was a lovely experience for all. Well played to all of the girls from both schools and thank you to everyone who came along to support.
