The 1st Seven travelled to Brecon South Wales to play in the Christ College Brecon 7's one of the UK's top schoolboy tournaments. First up for Kirkham was Hereford Cathedral School who KGS dispatched comfortably 33-0, with young players Evan Powell and Tom Giles making their debuts. The second group game proved to be a titanic struggle against Monmouth School which Kirkham eventually won 7-0 after failing to deal with the difficult conditions. For the last group game KGS faced Cheltenham College and started to gel as a seven with Teddy Leatherbarrow and Connor Doherty working hard. KGS ran out 33-0 victors which meant the faced one of England's top rugby schools Millfield. In a tense quarter final Kirkham scored two tries from hard working centre Nathan Pope and prop Sam Dugdale and managed to survive a Millfield onslaught and gain a superb victory 12-7. As the weather conditions worsened KGS forwards Jorge Lewtas, Sam Dugdale and Teddy Leatherbarrow got stronger and they dominated semi-final opponents Bryanston School in the semi-final with Connor Doherty also running in a number of tries. In the final KGS faced Whitchurch High School (a top Sports School in Wales - former pupils include Sam Warburton and Gareth Bale). Again Jorge Lewtas was the main man enjoying the conditions supported by Connor Doherty as KGS ran out winners 27-5 and regained this prestigious trophy for the first time since 2007. Jorge Lewtas also won player of the tournament.
